That's gotta be a back-end problem with eduke32, or a problem with your configuration that is entirely unrelated to my mod, which is really just some basic CON scripting that doesn't even touch the internal components of the game e.g. it uses the basic "ifhitspace" statement to check for player input.
When you load a custom content directory, EDuke32 will try to create the save file in a folder with the same name as the loaded folder.
So, to solve the issue, you just have to create a folder with the same name as the one you use to load custom content in you EDuke32 folder and the game should start work normally again.
Sorry fam. I don't use Raze, and this mod has still less than 400 downloads so it's not worth the time investment either. If someone else knows how to make mods for that source port, the code and assets still are in the public domain so they are free to port the mod as they wish!
The license literally is an Unlicense so do whatever you wish! Also, thank you for doing this! Maybe if you want reply with your version so I can link it on the page itself, if you'd like!
thanks for sharing! if you ever make a landing page for the download, let me know since I'd rather not link some Google Drive file that might become a dead link in the future.
also, this is just a recommendation, but I think it'd be less confusing to people if the two mods had different names — wouldn't want people to believe "Save the Babes 2.0" is an update of "Save the Babes 1.0" when it's rather a fork instead. but that's just a suggestion, do what you wish!
Cool mod! Would it be possible to make it work with the Rednukem sourceport, though? It seems to load "fine" but the behaviour with the babes stays the same.
Sorry bud. I have no experience using Rednukem, and I don't see myself having the time to install it just so I can port a mod with less than 200 downloads. I'm sure there must be some modders out there with more experience with that source port, that might be more willing and able to do such a thing. The code and assets from this mod are already in the public domain so they can reuse them as they wish!
Hey, would a version that only changes the babes in pods be possible? I love this idea but really only want to add interactivity to those sections, not remove it from others as well.
That aside I love that someone made this at all, I always hated the cruel aspect of Duke 3d even if it is a “goofy” game.

I currently have a problem :
I'm not able to save at any point in the game when the mod is loaded (both versions have that issue).
Would you mind to check if an input is the cause of this?

Contact eduke32 support.
I figured out what was the problem.

Will there be a Raze version at some point?

Finally, I can save all of the babes 😎
Hey! I updated your mod a little bit to give the player +5 Max HP (instead of +20 normal) and track the number of babes saved on the ENDLEVEL screen.
Since I can't find a license for your project, I wanted to ask: would you mind if I upload this version? I will give you credit, of course.

Sure, here it is!
I am still looking into a small bug (HP bonus persists across deaths in the same level) but everything else works well.

This is awesome and my favourite version, but can you make one that only saves the slimed/"kill me" babes and not the stripper ones?

I've just uploaded a version that does exactly that — it's the file savebabes10ppe.zip. I haven't tested it though so let me know if it works!
A saint among sinners! Thank you so much, I will happily playtest this with some friends and let you know how it goes.
This is awesome. Thanks for this mod! It bothered me killing them from back when I first got the game on release!
Thank you for this!
I'm only now playing Duke 3D, and it was bothering me that I couldn't save them.
Glad to help :D
